Nayantara was born in Bangalore, Karnataka as the youngest daughter Malayali parents Kodiyattu and Kurian Omana Kurian. His brother, Lenu (Pinto Akkara) nine years his elder, life in Dubai. like his father, an officer of the Indian air force, she pursued her vocal studies in different parts of the India, mainly in the North of the India. A Catholic of birth, she did her schooling at Chennai, Jamnagar, Gujarat and Delhi.
